چکیده

Six pregnant cows received, by injection into the rumen, 0.20 to 0.30 g urea/kg body-weight at 104 to 148 days of pregnancy, 0.35 g/kg at 124 to 169 days of pregnancy, 0.35 g/kg at 208 to 226 days of pregnancy and 0.30 g/kg at 256 to 273 days of pregnancy. The change in blood ammonia concentration was followed for approximately seven hours after dosing. Five cows survived until calving and gave birth to healthy calves after gestation periods of 281 to 287 days. Thus, it appears that sudden access to a high intake of urea is unlikely to result in abortion or stillbirths. One cow receiving 0.35 g/kg at 208 days of pregnancy and a further two nonpregnant cows receiving 0.40 g and 0.45 g/kg under the same experimental conditions died from urea toxicity. In cows receiving non-fatal doses of 0.20, 0.25, 0.30 and 0.35 g urea/kg, the mean maximum increases of blood ammonia-nitrogen concentration were 3.1, 3.4, 6.1 and 6.0 pg/ml respectively. The three animals receiving fatal doses of 0.35, 0.40 and 0.45 g/kg had maximum blood ammonia-nitrogen increases of 27.1, 22.0 and 19.5 pg/ml at the final samplings 60, 13 and 15 min before death respectively.

The effects of sub-chronic administration of sub-lethal doses of amitraz/xylene on selected reproductive parameters of male Wistar rats

This study investigated the effects of sub-chronic administration of sub-lethal doses of amitraz on some testicular parameters of Albino rats. Twenty-four adult male Albino rats (100 ± 10 g) randomly assigned into four groups were used for the study. Groups A, B and C received 10.0, 2.0 and 0.4 mg/kg amitraz in 10 ml/kg water while group D received equivalent volume of water orally and daily fo...

Evaluation the Effects of Sub-lethal concentrations of Zinc Chloride on hepatic enzymes activity in grey mullet (Mugil Cephalus) in vitro

In the recent years, water pollution by contaminations are increasing rapidly, the problems of aquatic pollution with heavy metals which is one of the important pollutions indicate that necessary to assess in fish as an important source of human food. The aim of this study was investigated the sub-lethal effects of zinc chloride on hepatic enzymes activity in grey mullet (Mugil Cephalus). In th...

Radioprotection by tempol: Studies on tissue antioxidant levels, hematopoietic and gastrointestinal systems, in mice whole body exposed to sub- lethal doses of gamma radiation

Background: Ionizing radiation induces the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which play an important causative role in cell death. Wholebody exposure of mice to gamma radiation leads to diminution of tissue antioxidant defense systems increases the peroxidative damage to membrane lipids and damages the haematopoietic and gastrointestinal systems. Tempol (TPL), a cell membranep...

The effect of sub-lethal doses of paraoxon on the growth of rat cultured hippocampal neurons in neurobasal/B27 medium

The qualitative morphologic study of the effects of organophosphate agents on development of neural cells in culture is a promising approach as a primitive step for further physiologic, electro physiologic and molecular investigation. Parathion is an OP (Organophosphate) used as an agricultural insecticide. Improper handling of this agent causes poisoning characterized by convulsive seizures, w...
